So Many Stories

Welcome

Named after its historic architectural details, Sentinel serves as a meeting place for the visionary thinkers, makers and doers who flock to this verdant, rain-soaked Pacific Northwest city for inspiration. Art celebrates those who challenged the status quo, pushed the limits and left their mark on fashion, music, innovation, sport and human rights. Soaring historic spaces play host to intimate events and epic meetings of the mind. There are so many stories here.

Welcome, Sentinel.

Why do we call it Sentinel? Walk around the East Wing along 10th and Alder and look up. See those robots along the roof looking out toward the future? Those are sentinels. They’re visionaries, and they remind us of you.

The East Wing, built in 1909 as the Seward Hotel, has had many incarnations. The West Wing was built in 1923 to house the Portland Elks Lodge.
